Chances are you\u2019re aware of this situation, as Windows will have alerted you to the same observation previously. In some cases, Windows is actually correct in this belief, but its mechanism for determining whether a desktop icon is superfluous to its needs is somewhat flawed \u2013 allowing it to stir its wizard and remove the errant icons can be a really bad call.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>You can disable this check permanently \u2013 here\u2019s how:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Click on the Window Start button.<\/li>\n<li>Select Settings.<\/li>\n<li>Double click on the Display applet.<\/li>\n<li>Click on the Desktop tab.<\/li>\n<li>Click on the Customize Desktop button.<\/li>\n<li>Disable Run Desktop Cleanup Wizard every 60 Days.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>That\u2019s it \u2013 you\u2019ll never be nagged about your slovenly Windows desktop again.<\/p>\n<p>Please see the disclaimers for <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.mindworkshop.com\" target=\"_blank\">Windows Adjustments<\/a> before you apply the information at this post.<\/p>\n<p><!--wpads#blog--><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Periodically, Windows will wake itself up and upon displaying its desktop, open a message bubble to warn you that there are unused icons on your desktop.
